Some disturbing new data has been posted recently on the AHS homepage describing various webpages that have been removed from the CDC website. Between January 20 and January 31, 2025 (President Trump’s first 11 days in office) more than 3,000 webpages were removed from the CDC website regarding chronic disease, overdose prevention training, vaccine guidelines for pregnant people, and resources on health disparities. These are public health guidelines intended for people of all socioeconomic backgrounds to access resources to keep themselves and their families healthy and safe.
In addition, around 20 usages of inclusive language, such as “transgender,” “LGBT,” “nonbinary,” “pregnant person,” and “DEI” have been removed from the CDC website, further marginalizing our most vulnerable minorities.
Things like this are easy for Trump and his ruling circle in the government to do because they come from the most privileged sections of the population. They can haphazardly throw away the health guidelines meant for everyday Americans because they don’t need them! They have access to the best private health care whenever they need because they’re rich.
In these unprecedented times, we can stay vigilant, share information and resources in our communities, fight for those under attack, and stand united against this hate. Remember the quote, “but I’m just one person!” said 8 billion people. Together, we can make the change we want to see.
