Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” Shows Whose Side He’s On…Again

The Republican crafted and Trump supported tax and budget bill passed by the House of Representatives and now going to the Senate for debate does many things. The bill keeps taxes low on the rich for years or decades to come and increases funding for the military and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Meanwhile it cuts $723 billion from Medicaid funding for the poor and working class, it cuts funding for renewable energies, for food stamps, and for education, and it even bans states from regulating artificial intelligence! But at least one thing that Trump loudly promised during his campaign is left out.

Trump said during the campaign that “seniors should not pay taxes on Social Security and they won’t.” Yet in this current bill, they still do! There is no cut to the taxes on Social Security benefits that are paid by tens of millions of seniors. Those benefits are minimal to begin with – averaging only $24,000 per year – and are even less after some taxes are taken out. Millions of seniors, many living on tight budgets in a time of high prices and economic uncertainty, would benefit from eliminating these taxes.

Once again, we see whose side Trump is on.

He’s not on the side of the elderly, and he’s definitely not on the side of the poor and working class.

All in all, this so-called “big beautiful bill” is a massive redistribution of wealth from the working class and poor towards the wealthiest people in society, perhaps even the largest transfer of wealth in American history.

Trump is and always has been on the side of the rich, who are trying to hang on to every last one of their millions and billions of dollars.
