Nothing Says ‘Well-Run Hospital’ Like New Lightbulbs

Over the last couple of weeks at Highland you’ve probably walked under workers installing new lights – one of the last things most of us thought needed replacing.

While some appreciated the additional brightness, others got headaches and eye strain from the overwhelming illumination. Regardless of preference, it raises a bigger question: if it were up to us, would new lights really be the top priority? Or would we choose to spend our limited budget on things like more supplies, fixing broken equipment, or hiring the staff we actually need?

We may never fully understand how the hospital makes its decisions – but we can say with confidence that we’d make different choices, based on what really matters.
