Prisoners in Kansas Revolt Against the Virus

Inmates at the Lansing Correctional Facility in Kansas rioted on Thursday.  They raged through offices, broke windows, and set fires.  Initial reports by prison authorities said no one was injured. Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) officials said they didn’t know what started the uprising.

But KDOC officials had previously reported that twelve prisoners and 14 staff had tested positive for COVID-19! People refused to continue to be locked in cages while the coronavirus spread through the building. Who could blame them?

As Gary Younge of The Guardian newspaper once said, “Rich people don’t riot because they have other forms of influence. Riots are a class act.”
