Since the announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, more than 360 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli gunfire and bombings, with thousands more injured. Satellite images show the bulldozing of entire neighborhoods behind the “Yellow Line”- the area of Gaza occupied by Israeli troops. A fraction of the aid needed to sustain the needs of the population trickles in, the remainder blocked at the border by the IDF. The brutal Israeli aggression is not limited to Gaza – in the West Bank, one thousand Palestinians have been killed and 32,000 expelled from their homes since Oct. 7th, 2023. Human rights organizations have continuously sounded alarms of constant settler violence, directed especially during the olive harvest season, averaging eight attacks every single day.

The Trump Administration continues to refer back to its 20-point “peace plan” for Gaza, including the ceasefire as though none of these events happened. As though Israel is not conducting bombings and shootings daily in Gaza. As though the illegal settlements in the West Bank do not expand daily and settler violence continues unopposed by Israeli security forces. There can be no lasting peace without justice, and justice means holding the genocidal forces in Israeli government and society accountable. The U.N., in approving the Trump peace plan, made it clear that no government is willing to do so – that they are willing to abandon Palestinian lives and dignity for political expediency. It is up to the global solidarity movement: workers, activists, students and others to force change. Every day that we do not, the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people from their land continues.
