After months of refusing to comply with mask and vaccine mandates, Texas Governor Greg Abbott tested positive for COVID-19. Despite his rejection of the importance of preventive measures, Abbott is tested daily – a privilege that most Americans do not enjoy. In a Twitter video he claimed to be asymptomatic, which he attributed to receiving the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19. In fact, he has stated in the past that he has received three booster shots – another privilege that most of us cannot afford. Abbot even participated in a crowded indoor event just a day before testing positive.
Despite his reckless and selfish behavior, Abbott is currently receiving an expensive and exclusive monoclonal antibody treatment — which boosts your body’s antibodies to help fight the virus — typically reserved for people who are at high risk of becoming seriously ill. Like many other politicians, Abbot is willing to risk the lives of thousands if not millions of people by misinforming the population about the risks of this pandemic. At the same time, he has no qualms about receiving preferential treatment that uses the same science that he denies in his rhetoric. This is once more proof that those who are making the decisions care very little about the majority of us and are willing to do anything to save their own skin.
