In the past few weeks, there have been suicide attempts within the system. Regardless of the outcome, this is a tough experience where both Station Agents and Train Operators have to respond in the heat of the moment to a “life and death” situation.
Sometimes, the quick actions of Station Agents or TOs can prevent a suicide. Most actions of frontline workers are not so dramatic, but each day they add up. And almost always, the work of people who make the system run goes ignored or is disrespected by management.
